Kids 4 Horses
Working with horses promotes self esteem, relationship building,
responsibility, team work and confidence. They can provide us with
the tools we need for success in our daily lives. And of course,
riding and just plain having fun are important, too !!
Our kids programs are taught by Jillian Amato, and
focus on developing a great working relationship with the horse
through an understanding of natural horse behavior and
communication.  Jillian believes strongly that a child's experience
should go beyond just learning to ride. Her lessons teach about the
horse from the ground up and include
  • Grooming
  • Handling
  • Conformation
  • Anatomy/Hippology
  • Body Language
  • Equine Language
  • Health Care
Lessons begin in the field, learning the safety basics of
catching and leading the horse. This is also a great opportunity
to begin the discussions of natural horse behavior.
The riding education classes begin from the ground. Horses read our body language
and will mimic the movements of the handler or rider. In her classes, Jillian conducts
ground exercises with the horse to help the child gain a heightened sense of body
awareness and an ability to communicate clearly with the horse. This carries over
directly to developing riding balance and understanding the movement of the horse and
rider together.

Both English and Western style riding are taught.

If your child has always been interested in
every aspect of horses, please contact us
for more information. Our program is open
to ages 7 and up at our Equine Center in
Timberlake, NC.
