FROM GROUND TO RIDE: Birth to Old Age  – THE MEA WAY

Understanding what is truly natural to a horse is the key for horse owners to
be able to apply natural training methods quickly and efficiently. Horse
owners don’t have the opportunity to witness daily the purpose behind each
movement a horse makes, so it’s can be difficult to apply what is read in
books, or demonstrated on a DVD by a trainer when the horse owner has
never seen the actual interactive horse behavior and its interpretation.

For example, between horses in the herd, there is no equipment used – and
yet when the mare tells her foal to stand still, he does. We humans feel
disabled in our communication with and training of our horse because we
don’t have ears to flatten, tails to swish, or hind feet to kick. Hence, myriads
of equipment have been developed to assist us in our endeavors to
“communicate” with the horse.  Many feel that this equipment is necessary to
make up for our lack of the horse’s anatomical parts used for communication.

What most of us are missing is the true definition and interpretations of
natural horse behaviors. The MEA (mirroring equine attitude) programs are
designed to be educational for the horse owner – not a “how-to” recipe to
follow. No round pens, special halters, ropes or gadgets are required. The
language of the horse is a silent one – owners and trainers need only to
understand the use of body language to tell the horse what is desired, and
then be able to read the response of the horse. The same principles apply
whether next to or on the back of the horse. Marlis Amato provides education
to the horse owner so they can fully understand why and how a particular
method will work. Video footage of horses communicating with each other is
used to demonstrate how body language can be used effectively and achieve
instant response in horse training.

Clinics, Seminars, and Private Instruction
The following is a list of clinics offered. Check back or contact us to receive clinic announcements. It is
strongly recommended that you view my DVD,
"Equus as a Second Language, A Translation Guide for Horse
and Human"
before attending a clinic. This DVD is the foundation for the MEA programs, presenting the chief
training tool - the language of the Horse. Order on our
Products page.

MEA 101 Ground Training - Join up without Sending Away! Partnering - The MEA Way
This clinic teaches you to "join-up" with your horse using your horse's favorite halter and lead line. Overcome
problems with leading and general ground manners. This clinic is required as the foundation for all other
clinics and is the basis for developing willing acceptance in all endeavors you enter with your horse.

MEA 102 – Effortless Connection – Drop that Leadline!
Learn to elicit responses from your horse without applying any physical pressure to the halter and lead line.
Learn to use these devices as attachments only and direct the movement of your horse through the silent
language. By the end of the clinic, your horse will walk, trot and canter at your side without a lead line! This
clinic will assist you with specific problems you and your horse may be encountering, such as clipping,
bathing, bridling and haltering issues, head shyness, picking up feet, etc.

MEA 103 – Energy Direction – merging the energy of the partnership for mutual benefit
Principles of directing your horse will be practiced, including lungeing, basics for safe and reliable trailer
loading, basics for safe trail riding and accomplishing obstacles. This clinic is all from the ground, but transfer
of these principles to their back will also be discussed.

MEA 201 - Bringing the Ground to their Back
Teaches effective communication and becoming one with your horse and his/her movement. Exercises will
include how to direct your horse and be the "partner on top".
Marlis Amato offers private instruction and site visits within the state
of North Carolina and Southern Virginia.
Contact her if you would like
